How much will new windows cost?  This is the biggest question most people have as they shop for new windows.  While there are some who always buy the best, no matter the cost, most of us want to be sure that we are not paying too much.  On the one hand, we don’t want to pay more than we need to; on the other hand, we don’t want to waste our money on something that doesn’t perform the way we expected. 

So, how can you know what the right choice is for you?

• Look at quality first.  Pretend that money is not a factor.  Ask yourself this: What do I fear more, saving a few dollars and ending up with nightmare windows that fall apart right away or don’t perform as well as I hoped, or to pay a little more to get the quality I deserve?
• Don’t fall for gimmicks.  Windows, especially at the cheap end of the scale, tend to become “commodity items,” meaning they are all the same.  In order to differentiate themselves from other window companies or brands, salespeople will create a gimmick to make you thing they have something no one else has.  Usually they don’t make much difference in the long run.  Don’t be taken in by slick sales presentations.  Remember to look at bottom-line quality first.
• Don’t buy based on price.  It is so easy to choose the window that costs the least.  We all want to keep as much of our money in our own pockets as possible. But the cheapest is almost always the cheapest for a reason.  “You get what you pay for” is as true with windows as it is in all of life.
